Insurance Study 2019
Zielke Research Consult has published the 2019 insurance study "Deceptive calm". The introduction of the corridor methodology gives German life insurers only about four years of breathing space, as interest rates remain too low. Therefore, it is now more important than ever to diversify the asset allocation and, above all, to pay attention to the sustainability of the investments. This development is promoted by the new requirements of Solvency II and IFRS 17.

IFRS for insurers
Review: The book "IFRS for Insurers" begins with a practical introduction to the current situation of the insurance industry and provides background information on the current accounting standards. In the following, the decisive effects of the new accounting standard IFRS 4 on both accounting/bookkeeping and the business policy of insurers are clearly shown. In addition, the future challenges that the insurance industry will have to face in the coming years due to new accounting standards and biometric developments (especially increasing life expectancy) are presented. In this context, concrete proposals for improving the earnings situation of insurers and possible future scenarios are developed. Examples and background information from practice as well as many clear graphics and informative tables fill this topic with life. This book is not only aimed at insurance managers, but also at all members of insurance industry institutions and faculties. (Source: amazon.de)

In property and health insurance, interest income in investments is merely an additional source of profit. In life insurance, however, interest income is the main source of profit. Therefore, interest rate developments are of particular importance for life insurance.

Insurance Study 2014
The mammoth project "Solvency II" was worked on for over ten years. Now it has been completed. But due to numerous adjusting screws, the results of this measurement are only likely to be meaningful to a limited extent. Rather, the analysis of the individual annual financial statements of German insurers shows that they are increasingly suffering from the low interest rate level. This is especially true for life insurers. Here there are three companies that were only able to generate their guarantee obligations with the realisation of hidden reserves in 2012. For 2013 we see even more candidates here....
